Revelation 1:1-8
Second Sunday Service

Feeling overwhelmed and ready to quit?  As Pastor Dinkins continues to challenge us in recent sermons on the importance of not quitting, he reminds us in this very powerful sermon that whatever God starts in you, He will complete in you!  How awesome is that?  That whatever job, degree, trade, new chapter in your life that God has led you to, He will see to it that you reach your destination of completion through Him.

Just think about the key folks in the Bible who didn't quit and perservered to do great things through God:

  • In man's view, David was no match for Goliath but God had the final say and David was victorious.
  • Moses faced a huge empire under Pharoah but God had the final say - and Moses and the Children of Israel were victorious.
  • Esther faced the destruction of her people unless she risked her life and went before her king - God had the final say and her people were spared - Esther was victorious.
  • Daniel faced a sure death in the Lion's Den - God had the final say and those same lions expected to kill Daniel became his pillows throughout the night - and Daniel was victorious.
  • The Hebrew boys chose to remain obedient in God and as a result were sentenced to the fiery furnace - God had the final say and they came out of the furnace with not 1 hair burned or touched - they were victorious.
  • Jesus Christ is the ULTIMATE VICTOR - defeating death and Satan by dying on the cross for our sins, buried  and raised from the dead on the third day with ALL POWER in His hands - Jesus is victorious!

As Pastor says,  we are victorious because the final score in our lives of challenges, problems, pains and disappointments is in - JESUS WINS .... we win!  So take a deep breath - let out a sigh of relief - and relish in the fact that when God is for us, who can be against us?  There is nothing too hard for God and He will see to it that what He starts in you, He will complete in you.  Phillipians 1:6 says it best:

"6 Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ

Enjoy a song that reinforces the point that we have got to hold on - our breakthrough is oh so close:
