Description

Rev. Jones gave us insight into what a real friend is:

F - forgetting the past

R - remembering the good

I -  inspires you

E - encourages you

N - Never puts you down

D - Deliberately makes you smile

Rev. Jones challenged us to do a self evaluation and assess whether we are real friends to others?Proverbs 17:17goes on to say, "A friend loveth at all times, and a brother is born for adversity".    Life Application Study Bible summarized 17:17 as our standard for being a friend this way:

"What kind of friend are you?  There is a difference between knowing someone well and being a true friend.  The greatest evidence of geniune friendship is loyalty:  being able to help in times of distress or personal struggles.  Too many people are fair-weather friends.  They stick around when the friendship helps them and leave when they are not getting anything out of the relationship.  Think of your friends and assess your loyalty to them.  Be the kind of true friend the Bible encourages".
